Brave but clueless, the best man of the Lemusan Intelligence Service stomped through the Antarctic, allowed himself to be unresistingly confused by the Congo, travelled to Jerusalem, through half the United States, and ended up in India. That he should find in this land the ingredients of a special blend of spices that was his very own recipe, was the idea of Jelena Jansson – «We must occupy him in some way,» she announced, «and since he is so passionately interested in the subject of food…»

Odette could hardly believe that someone could be distracted by such nonsense. However, any means that would keep Maille away from the island was all right with her. And, the ploy worked. Given that the agent had a bizarre fixation with anything that had to do with food, he was really easy to con.
