Episode 15: Congo Dreams

The beauty of hobby musicians is that in the absence of perfect knowledge the concept gets more in the foreground and the wavering quality of the music takes sturdy steps towards making it an exceptional performance. Something of this beauty can be found in every lay orchestra when it performs with adequate lifeblood – and with enough false notes.

Music: Symphonie «Tata Kimbangu» by Héritier Mayimbi and Johnny Balong & «Nu tal e bandel'eto » by Armand Diangienda. Thanks to the Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste (OSK), who performed on June 24, 2010 in the Hall Gombe in Kinshasa (RDC).
