The exception paid off: under the very last piece of the living-dead fish, Hektor Maille found a neatly folded little note. It was a copy of a minute map of Australia, on which the city of Sydney was encircled in red.

The great paper chase was by no means over. But why the hell had this message needed to be conveyed to him on the body of a half-dead mackerel? Was it a hint that the kidnapped professor's life was in real danger? Had V-man Aral been discovered, exposed? What could he do?
