Sharjah, Souq Al Ghuwair

Scene 6

«We have established a Post Office Box address in Sharjah», Marie had informed him over the telephone: «It is a shop named ‹Rasam Store› and is located in a shopping street in the Souq Al Ghuwair near the Sharjah art galleries. Good luck.» Maille wondered why Marie had made no sly references to the women of the Orient, to the belly dancers, the veils and disguises, snake-like bodies, Sheherazades and other dangers of the Arabian night. And when the water-lilies the water-lilies had reached her, then the water of the forest pond in Moja had also finally reached Santa Lemusa – how extraordinary that she had opted to keep mum about them.

Obediently, Maille went looking for the shopping street near the Art Museum of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed al-Quasimi. The shop was shut – but there was a piece of paper stuck on the door that the secret agent peeled off carefully. In a rather childish handwriting was written a little note: «Saturday 10 AM, Blue Souq, ‹Chrystal Cafeteria› (I will recognise you).»
