Scene 6: Hektor Maille finds Black pepper
Piper nigrum is one of the 20 ingredients of Maille-Masala, the hot spice blend of «Mission Kaki». Each ingredient that Hektor Maille finds during his research in India is reminiscent of a particular scene from the 20 different episodes of the travel adventure «Mission Kaki». Black pepper refers to: Scene 3 in Episode 9 («Straight Across Indochina»).

18.15: Port-Louis, Quartiers des Rochers
Darkness was beginning to descend on the streets when Odette left the Secret Service headquarters. She went up the Rue de Berlin, crossed the Parc des Rochers and arrived in the vicinity of the Vishnu shrine on Rue de Tokyo. At the corner of Rue de Vilnius she stopped, took out a large key and opened the door of a house that had six storeys and loomed high over the rest of the structures in the neighbourhood. She climbed the stairs and stepped into a long room with a slightly sloping roof located on the west side of a large terrace that afforded a view of the entire Baie des Italiens. At the centre of this terrace a mast, camouflaged by little orange trees, towered into the air, a telescope-like aerial radio-mast like those normally used only by the air force. Innumerable cables ran from this mast to three large tables in the interior, on which were arranged various screens, recorders and computers. In the middle of these screens sat a young woman with dark hair, feeding, with the help of a keyboard, reams and reams of a code into the computer.
